John Conway has 40 years experience in aerospace, science and advanced technology. He spent 34 of those years with the U. S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), seventeen as a senior executive. From 1985 to December 1996, he served as NASA's Director of Payload Processing at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, Florida. In this capacity, he directed a civil service/contractor engineering team with responsibility for final assembly, testing, and flight vehicle integration for all NASA and international customer payloads launched on the Space Shuttle and Expendable Launch Vehicles. In addition, he was responsible for NASA launch site Expendable Launch vehicle activities and for developing the capability to integrate and test elements of the International Space Station. In this capacity, he was a key interface and team member with international mission management and science teams worldwide. Mr. Conway has demonstrated capability in establishing positive customer partnerships with a widely diverse national and international customer base as well as in-depth experience in managing a large organization engaged in advanced technology, high risk, and high visibility programs.

 

Since his retirement from NASA in December 1996, Mr. Conway has served as a management consultant to aerospace and information management companies. In this capacity he has provided expertise with strategic planning, evaluation and development of management and contracting approaches, and proposal development and management.  He has contributed significantly to a number of successful proposal efforts resulting in NASA contracts by providing assessment of bid opportunities, proposal management and integration, proposal development, cost strategy development, and participation in and management of proposal management reviews.

 

Mr. Conway also has participated in aerospace technology studies to assist in determining future U.S. marketplace demands, developing NASA’s future operations strategies, serving as a management advisor to resolve customer and organizational management issues, and providing research grant assistance to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Other Minority Institutions.

 

John Conway holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Florida State University and a Masters in Mathematics from the College of William and Mary. In addition, he has participated in numerous management training programs both as a student and lecturer. He had a continuous record of outstanding performance ratings since being selected for Senior Executive Service in 1979. During his tenure with NASA, he was also awarded NASA's Exceptional Service Medal, three NASA Outstanding Leadership Medals, the 1990 Presidential Meritorious Executive Award, and the 1995 Presidential Distinguished Executive Award.
